So this is my first blog.....ever
was kinda bored today and this seemed like an interesting concept. Get online and report/brag/complain/joke/quote or whatever.
so I figure I will give it a try.
first a couple side notes
- hold your judgement on the grammar/spelling.. not an english major so already know it sux....dont care
- please send feed back. Good or bad, its always good to hear, and is almost always helpful in one way or another
- Again this is first blog ever, so just kinda winging it.....hang with me =)
SO HERES ME!!
I am an international Biz and Management Major
I plan to eventually be a river boat captain
umm I have to many hobbies to list...so not even gonna try
and...
I am currently living in Ingolstadt Germany
The city gate attached to my dormatory....I live on the left |
My room after 15 mins of cleaning for this pic |
The giant catholic church right outside my window |
I have been here almost a month now.....which I just realized means I only have three months left here as well =( (sad face)
Anyway I'm loving it so far!
The food consist of exactly what you would expect in Germany....sausage pretzals and of course fine german beer. They also really love Doener, some turkish sandwich like thing that they say was invented in germany. The pic below is at a Bayrisch (Bavarian) restaurant in Munich. Its actually meatloaf and potatoes. The round things on the other plate are Knudel... its made from bread and potato but has the consistancy of soft rubber.....=/
I dont recommend Knudel but the meatloaf was boss |
I normally cook my own dinner during the week since I live right beside the dorms community kitchen. I try to go out somewhere new every weekend though.
So I have had quite a few adventures since I have been here, but it seems a little impractical to write 10 blog pages of stuff that has already happened. so instead of recapping for pages upon pages I will start this blog on today..... A warm 77 degree Thursday that has up to this point been fairly uneventful.....
I take that back! I finally stopped procrastinating and started a blog!! =D
Class got canceled so I ended up just walking the streets of ingolstadt all day. Probably gonna go find something to do at this point considering its only 3:35.....
Aufwedersehen for now world! Ill keep you posted =)
Test
ReplyDeleteAndy--I LOVE your blog. I really like the pictures also. I called your Grandma last night and read to her:) The "meatloaf" looks yuck:( but I do like the taste of German beer! You are smiling in every picture that I see of you, so I know that you are having a good time. Keep the blog posts coming and when you are stateside again, I will hook you up to a publishing site that you can put your blog/adventures into book form--I want an autographed copy! Love you, Aunt Sue
ReplyDeleteOk, stupid question. Was the wall built around the city for obvious reasons? Do most of the towns in Germany have walls built around them? I would also like to see pictures from inside of that big Catholic church. Does it have stained glass windows? Statues? Anyone entombed there?
ReplyDeleteIngolstadt has a wall because it was the defense city for Munich in medieval times, but I think its pretty common for a city to have a wall. I have only been inside the church once but i'm pretty sure it has all of the above. Including a mummufied hand of some saint! Ill take pictures next time I go! If this is ever gonna be a book im gonna have to find a lot more stuff to write about... How often do people normally post in a blog anyway?
ReplyDeleteWahh..I wish our city had a wall. Maybe we could raise some taxes around here to build one..NAH! I DEFINITELY want to see a picture of a mummified hand! Post as much as you want. Here are some ideas for what I would find interesting. Pictures/dialogue of local fashions-what people are wearing, transportation--motorcycles, rail--pictures of storefronts, food you are eating, anything historical, local customs, etc. I am visiting Ingolstadt through your eyes:) Proud of you, Andy! Aunt Sue
